San Francisco Coin Show on Saturday, May 1st - Show Report (Very Short)

I spoke to Scott yesterday. Sounds like a small show with a focus on World and Ancients but after a year of no coin shows, I'd swim across the bay to see a clad dime right about now.

No, not until I've had my second shot in a few weeks. Have fun.

Will do - pretty sure I'll spend more time driving to and from South San Francisco than at the actual show but count on a full report!

Hey @ricko - can you pick me a few boxes of double 00 12 gauge shells? The cupboards are bare here in Kalifornia!

    :)

Already back from SF Coin Show - Here is a quick update from my first show in over a year:

Location - South San Francisco Convention Center
    Admission Fee - $5
    Masks Required
    Tables - 7
Opened - 10:00 AM (but they allowed me to enter at 9:55)

Most tables were world and ancient raw coins. I was on the lookout for old holders and bargains, of course. Been looking for a 1921 Morgan and Peace dollar and was able to fill half the bill.

    Here are a few pictures:

That has to be the smallest coin show that I have ever seen!

That was my thought as well.
Still a small show is better than no show. And it looks like there was a decent amount of people.

Congrats on finding half of the 1921 set @pointfivezero !

Thanks and my thoughts exactly. At one point there was actually a line to get in which meant there was a small huddle at every table. Hardly worth the 100 mile round trip except for experiencing a sense of normalcy returning to the coin world.

Next big show is in Sacramento June 5th and 6th. Much longer (and more expensive) report will follow.

LOL! The dealers should pay the customers to come!

Wow, that’s small, and $5 admission. I paid that much for shows with over 100 tables. Still at least it’s coins and any about is fun 🤩

    But the venue is beautiful!

Still it’s a coin show, after the long drought it’s still an oasis, albeit a shallow one.

Well, the advertisement said the admission fee was $8 so I thought I got a deal. :)

Pleasure - it was like getting back in at the shallow end of the pool. Maybe we'll see you at Sac?

7 dealers. Wow. How much was the cost of a table vs. rent of facility?

    Attending Dealers :
    Classical Numismatic Group
    Kagin's
    Wolfshead Gallery
    Herakles Numismatics
    J. Zhang
    Ken Dorney Coins
    Gold Rush Numismatics
    Griffin Coins

Surprised that a couple of dealers from the east coast made it out west for a one day show with all the cost involved and limited interest? in ancient and world coins.

Agree with ohers $5 for admission is excessive. All the usual bay area dealers were at the show in Las Vegas.
