I picked this up last week on the cheap. In hand it has some nice luster and appears lightly circulated.
I wonder if some of that dark obverse toning would lighten with a little help.
I'm not going to do it because I'm chicken and appreciate original skin better than messed with. but still... I wonder.

I personally don’t think there’s enough luster to keep the coin looking good with a dip. It does seem that this issue is more often than not seen with unattractive toning.

Just give it an acetone soak/rinse to remove any organics. Cheers, RickO
that appears to be terminal tone.
That's not a bad looking coin.
An ugly coin that would not dip well. I hope it was very cheap.
Not interested in dipping it at all... I will probably give it a Rick-O approved acetone bath and see if anything happens.

It looks o.k. to me. Not great but o.k.
Reverse is better, but obverse is going to hold it back.
Reverse is pleasant. Please update if you attempt the Rick-O approved acetone bath.
