1829/7 O.102a Bust Half Dollar
This is a very tough die state. It is currently listed as R5- but I think it's a solid R5. The coin has been lightly cleaned and the picture shows the surfaces just about as they appear in hand. The die crack through the '9' is sharp......gone

1829 O.104 Prime Bust Half Dollar
Seldom offered, rare die state (R5+? per Herrman) of this Overton die marriage. A1 and A2 of the reverse legend are not filled in with die chips. The '?' indicates that the R5+ designation is the current best estimate for the rarity of this die state. Time will test the validity of this assessment. This example is the first that I have owned in my 30+ years of collecting.
The coin offered here has been cleaned (not harshly) and has a small dig in the field in front of Liberty's mouth.
The toning is medium gray. Good strike and only moderate wear.

Not as nice as the PCGS XF45 that Downey sold in Mail Bid #50 (Jan 2020, Lot 83) https://sheridanscoins.com/inc_past-auctions.php, but offered at less than 1/4 the price........gone

MOXIE Token
Moxie soda was among the first mass-produced carbonated soft drinks in the United States. Ads from the 1940s onward stated that the company was originated in 1884, though Moxie specialists debate whether the date was actually 1884 or 1885 in Lowell MA.
On July16, 1885, Dr. Augustin Thompson filed trademark number 12,565 (subsequently registered on September 8, 1885) for a product he called Moxie Nerve Food. Thompson’s trademark indicated that Moxie, “has not a drop of Medicine, Poison, Stimulant, or Alcohol in its composition.”

Later, Thompson’s application stated that Moxie was, “a liquid preparation charged with soda for the cure of paralysis, softening of the brain, and mental imbecility and called ‘Moxie Nerve Food.’ It is comprised in the class of medical compounds.”

The token shows the Moxie bottle wagon on one side, and “Good for One Drink” on the other.

These used to be offered for sale on eBay from time to time, but now have all but disappeared from the internet sources. This is the first one that I have come across in the last 5-10 years, and it's a nice example.

Moxie soda is still available today and remains a New England classic with a loyal following.......gone
