1970D 50C DDO

Is this a new discovery? I’ve only seen DDO for the proof.

It looks like a doubled die to me, but when you find a minor doubled die in the Kennedy half dollar series, your first question should be, is this master die doubling? If it is, that means it is found on all coins of that date, and therefore, it is not an unusual find and there is no premium for it.

The doubled die varieties of real interest are those that are restricted to a single working die, and there are plenty of these in the Kennedy half series, as well - check these sites for comparison:

I do see the indications that it may be a doubled die... but as mentioned it is very mushy and not very distinct, so likely a minor one?
