Two men arrested, suspected of stealing $290,000 in coins

"Two men arrested, suspected of stealing $290,000 in coins, precious metals from 21 stores in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Clark Counties.
The suspects typically broke into their targets before dawn by smashing through windows of those businesses, and managed to get in and out in 90 seconds or less, officials wrote in an affidavit supporting the charges filed against them. In some of the burglaries, thieves used an SUV and a tow line to pull down security gates. In one case, the culprits simply drive through the front of the store, ATF officials said.
The thefts took place in Fullerton, Covina, Hesperia, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, Tustin, Huntington Beach, Rolling Hills Estates, Torrance, Signal Hill, Santa Ana, Lake Forest, Brea, Alhambra and Las Vegas.
Authorities arrested Griffin on Sunday while he was allegedly in the process of stealing from Fullerton Coins, 123 N. Raymond Avenue, ATF officials said in their release. Thompson was also taken into custody that day without incident at his home in Las Vegas."

Glad they were caught. I hope they get more than a slap on the wrist. I wonder how much of the stolen merchandise they still have in their possession?
Hopefully the victims will get their orbs back and the perpetrator's will have their's removed.

Fullerton coins, Raymond ave. sounds familiar. Back in the day 1993ish pretty sure they were one of the ones who tried to rip me off. Or maybe it was that place in Anaheim on same street as Disney. So long ago but blood suckers for sure.

Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
Harbor Blvd?
Yep they cleaned out my childhood collection for halves of pennies on the dollar. In retrospect I should have said no, scumbags.

You're pretty sure, but maybe it was someone else?
May the perps get everything they deserve as they go thru the legal system.

While I deplore the burglaries, I also have to note how little the thieves obtained, on average.
I also have to believe that some coin shops had little or nothing of value left out overnight, so who was so unwise as to leave $30,000+ sitting out overnight?
Wishing for the perp pics...
I think you might be right.
Fullerton Coin is being tried and convicted in this thread.

I usually left about 80 bucks worth of stuff out at night.
Thieves felt sorry for me and robbed parking meters instead.
Glad to hear they have been apprehended. Now let's also hope they receive significant penalties. Cheers, RickO
There is at least one other coin shop here in the SF Valley
that was burglarized by these two (on video), if not more.
The dealers are all providing lists of their stolen coins/items,
as well as jewelry, to authorities.
It also happens to be my local coin shop where I got my start collecting coins and learned a great deal from. I still visit it several times a month. Never seen them try to rip anyone off.
They’re also not on Harbor, nor in Anaheim.
Maybe if people can’t remember what shop ripped them off 25 years ago or even what city they were in, they should be more responsible about who they’re claiming are crooks.

I'd require them to make bail using only pocket change, seeing that they like coins so much.
