LOL. I just think it's misplaced compassion. None of the regular people on this thread indicated any expectation of a sell-out. I don't think they are at all unhappy with their purchase.

I don't have time to play games, if I don't get them now some other dealer can buy all of them and I'm out and it will cost me more then the $100 trust me it's only $100. If I'm out working I can make up the $100. But I may miss out if I don't get them locked in I cant set on the computer all day and I'm on call 24hr a day and It's only $200 or $300 no big deal. HSN can do it in one order.

I'm not sure who you are yelling at. Was this supposed to be a PM? Or are you really frustrated and need someone to buy one? I can buy one for you if you want.

  • I agree with others that this coin may likely not sell out and mint will eventually DISCO it. I’m gonna wait for the first week sales data, I think that will be a good first indicator and can decide accordingly...

  • On another note Palladium settles the highest ever today on supply worry. If the price continues rising and I don’t see EU or US easing sanctions on Russia any time soon, auto mfg will look to go back to Platinum, which historically was double the price of gold. Purchasing this coin during record highs and industrial uncertainty of the metal, make it a high risk asset, especially long term. It still may be a good flip depending on when you buy and sell.

Glad to see they went with a modest, but nice display case and not some lacquered wood box.
While this looks true to the full reverse proof finish, I think I prefer the increased details that the other finishes allow.

This should display nicely along side the others from the 'golden age' of coin design that preceded it - the RP Walker, RP Saint, and the RP Buffalo.
Now we just need an SLQ and $10 Saint to complete the group!

This is typical of how the Mint reacts when a quick sell-out occurs for a product. This is their way to insure everyone who wants one will get one. (They might have actually sold 30K if the price was say, half of what it is right now, but it's a tough sell at this price point.)

It's an odd business model, but then too, it's the government. And they're here to help you, donchaknow.

It's funny how the focus of the conversation goes from, "The Mint should have known the demand would have been higher and struck more!" to "Who at the Mint thought they could sell this many?" in a year's time... :D

Someone will be calling White and getting the first days sales number tomorrow. Plus HHL's will be lifted. You won't have to wait a week to know whether this is going to sell out or not.

I think the only thing that could sell this out is if Palladium crashes hard and brings the price down. Almost $2K is not a casual purchase.

Palladium hit $1600 today. If it continues, we'll see another $50 price jump next week. :o

Order number 070265xx, dialed about 30 times finally got through at 12:15 eastern.
With any luck mine will be 50% off center and I can retire :)
Can't believe I spent $1992.45 on 1 oz. of PD with a design struck on it.

    I figure Enhanced, then Matte.

The law states they have to use a different finish from year to year, so they could go back and start over from proof when they run out of finishes. Unless they start to colorize it.

Rhodium up $250 but not a new high.

...go back and start over from proof from a different mint perhaps?? Or will the series end with just five or six coins??? Don't forget about the Enhanced Reverse Proof.

Have they considered an enhanced CrytoCoin yet? An actual physical presence, a beautiful hologram, would set the Bitcoin world on fire.

The law only states “preceding year”. Not preceding years. The Mint would be within scope of the law by going back to a Proof in 2020. The Mint could do a Proof with same mint mark every other year if they choose...

Okay, you're right. It's like reading the "fine print"..preceding years...there could be no end in sight, but interest in these could really diminish with repeated finishes. I think the short set would be one of each finish from each introductory year.

    My order has shipped !

This could also be a sign that the shipping department was not overwhelmed with 10,000 orders.

Mine also says shipped with tracking, but that does not mean UPS picked it up because the tracking number is still invalid. Maybe it will show received by UPS tomorrow and that would be very fast handling so I would be surprised.

Mine is in a shipped status also. It's about time I finally get an order confirmed in the first few minutes. At least I don't have to wait several months for a backorder to be processed hoping that the order I get wasn't already returned to the mint by a customer who returned their order!! THANKS TO ALL THE FLIPPERS AND EVERYONE WHO PASSED ON ORDERING THIS ISSUE FOR WHATEVER REASON AND HELPING ME GET MY ORDER SUCCESSFULLY PLACED VERY EARLY IN THE PROCESS!!

While we are waiting for first day sales numbers and the Tuesday report of sales through Sunday, post any other Palladium coin or bar so we can ogle the beauty of this metal.

I'll start with this Dan Carr 2011 Winged Liberty Proof

The reverse proof palladium eagle looks great and I wish I had bought one but the price is way out of my budget, guess I'll just have to appreciate my 2018 proof all the more.

Sounds about right. I figured 10k first day. I'm hoping less than 15k by the time they are done.

This is the general pattern you see with most mint series. The first one sells a lot and each one that follows the sales drop more and more. Gold buffalo sales have fallen back almost to 2008 levels now.

This is true, in general. The Mint also hastened the decline by doubling the mintages. And palladium prices didn't help.

    Quote from Coin World
"Slightly less than one-third of the maximum 30,000 Reverse Proof 2019-W American Eagle palladium $25 coins offered by the U.S. Mint were sold during the first day of sales Sept. 12."
    https://coinworld.com/news/precious-metals/sales-kick-off-for-reverse-proof-2019-w-american-eagle-palladium-25-dollar-coin
Sort of follows your number. 9,086 is "Slightly less" than 10,000. Your number is better / accurate which is always good.

And what percentage of that sales number will be affected by “oh snap, I spent $2000, returns?”
