Not recently. Originally from there, I think, and went there a couple months back to get married. I’ve seen Buffalo mentions more recently.
Good luck to you Reed @dmurphy3mvp ! He is great for the hobby and always happy to help others or share thoughts on all things in the card world. We will miss him at the BBCE area of the National and his facebook posts of his travels...guess I will have to start following D&A now as well.
Thanks for the well wishes. Yes, I am born and raised in Hawaii, but have been living in Buffalo for the last 15 years. It's really not that bad living in Western NY, but I travel enough during the winter months so I don't feel the full effect. Looking forward to many more years of finding collections all over the country, and will continue to document my travels on social media. Hope to see everyone at a show sometime soon.
Have you seen Reed's wife?...a lot of Celtic blood in her like my wife...Hawaii's a great place to visit with lots of sunscreen, umbrellas, long sleeve clothing, but Buffalo is much easier on that fair skin!

Looking forward to what he does. I get down to Dave and Adam's at least every 4-6 weeks. They have got REALLY heavy into comics the last few years which I have no interest in. Hoping they get a bit heavier into cards now. They carry very little in singles, sets, older wax etc. Great place to buy current card products and supplies at reasonable prices, but very limited in older material. If you are a Sabres, Bills fan or Magic/Pokemon, it is THE PLACE to go!
I lived just down the street from Dave and Adams store on Sheridan Drive. I left Buffalo 32 years ago but when I visit I stop in and browse. I haven’t looked but I’m assuming it’s still in its original location.
I did 31 years of Buffalo winters. That was 30 too many.

Great question. Because the northeast is such a huge population center, with lots of former Topps and Fleer employees, you would think the area would be rich with product. It is, but there are also more dealers out there as well, so the finds are few and far between. Florida is a hotbed because of all the people from up north move down to retire - and often will bring their entire collection with them - but the state is also filled with lots of dealers. Still, I get to Florida at 1-2 times a year because of the sheer volume of leads there. To be honest, the best deals come from the middle of nowhere - the further away from a major city or interstate, the better. It's not easy to get a dealer to come to you if you live far away, and because my buying trips touch every single part of the country sooner or later, I'm likely going to earn the first crack at a collection. Because these collectors are isolated, the opportunity to sell off stuff from time to time doesn't come up often, so they just keep it all. Off the top of my head, some of the best deals - both in unopened and vintage cards - are from places like central Illinois, Westchester County New York, Gainesville Florida, central Kansas, Idaho near Jackson Hole Wyoming, Orange County California, eastern Kentucky, San Antonio Texas, Long Island New York, Denver Colorado, Columbus Ohio, etc.

Yes, my wife is part Irish, red-ish hair, and is white like rice. She loves it when we go to Hawaii, but she goes through a lot of sunscreen.

Let's just say I'm an incredibly lucky person. Quite a few think I'm crazy for leaving BBCE, but the DACW opportunity was simply too good to pass up. I was going to go on my own and start a new company before Adam came in with an incredibly strong offer.

I once contacted him through a Facebook message and took a shot in the dark and asked him if he’d come across an obscure and frankly not very desired item that I was really looking for at the time. The value of this item was not much (around $30). Reed had responded and told me if he ever came across it, he’d let me know and give me an opportunity to purchase it from BBCE. About 8 months later, I had forgotten about it and kind of wrote it off and I randomly got a message for Reed saying he had found the item I was looking for! We talked briefly on the phone and the item was in my hands about a week later! For him to remember a request of such minuscule value and then reach out to me to say he’s got it, I was taken a back by his effort to help me with a piece of my collection. That’s what the hobby is all about. Thanks again Reed!
