My January bulk sub just popped today. I don't have them in hand, but I will update scans later next week when they arrive. Overall, I am very happy with the results. Most of my bigger cards got 10's 
, so can't complain if a few get 9's here and there. The 9 on the 1st Day Michael Jordan was expected, I will have to look and see what I missed on the others. I had a couple of friends piggyback on this sub, so some of the cert numbers and lines jump around, but this is my portion of the sub. I lost count, but I believe my statistics were 83 total cards and 76 PSA 10's and 7 PSA 9's. Most of the cards were modern with only a few from the early 90's. This was my first sub with a lot of baseball in it so I was happy with all the love for my Acuna and Soto RC's.

I have decided I will try to use this one thread to share my sub results. I think it will be cool to look at this over time and see what I was subbing and what my results were. I got these cards in today as part of a piggyback on a friend's renewal sub. I knew it wouldn't last. From batting 1.000 to batting .833 my success rate is plummetting, lol. But, overall I am happy with the results. I wish I could have gotten the 9 on one of my two Sunburst cards instead of the only Cubic card I subbed. Oh well, can't win them all. These cards all look fantastic in hand. The Donruss Laser cards are very underrated in my opinion. If you like shiny, they are that for sure. The Optic Preview is probably the rarest Luka card in my collection. It is a very rare, case hit insert. This is another all Luka Doncic sub. If you're not familiar with modern basketball, these cards are all limited parallels or inserts: Donruss Pink Laser /79, Red Laser /99 (not sure why PSA misspelled it Lazer), Optic Preview is unnumbered but estimated to be under 20 produced, Revolution Cubic /50 and Sunburst /75. Now granted the degree of difficulty is not nearly as high for me as a modern submitter as a lot of the vintage folks on here, but I was pretty stoked when I received the grades for my renewal sub (Business Day 19 for anyone counting). I had 14 cards in the sub and 1 slot I gave to a friend to piggyback with me. We ended up sweeping 15/15 10's. All the cards in the sub are RC's of the presumptive NBA ROY of this season. Needless to say I am pretty excited.

Great job! Don't sell yourself short. It still takes a good eye to pick out a gem. No matter what people think, all modern cards are not perfect put of the pack.

Thank you. You are correct. There is definitely a misconception that all modern cards come out of the pack gem. It took me a while to get the hang of grading the modern chromium cards that Panini puts out (Prizm, Optic, etc.). I have gotten pretty good at understanding PSA's tolerance for 10's. I was very selective with my purchases of the Silver Prizms in particular. So, while I got lucky pulling two Silvers out of packs that ended up being Gems in this sub I was more proud that I actually went 6/6 for 10's with my Silver purchases from eBay. So there were no wasted raw purchases.

Thanks Arthur. Hang in there. I am almost ashamed to say how much I spent on packs this year, lol. I was lucky and pulled one Silver Prizm RC and one Silver Prizm Luck of the Lottery card of Luka out of three hobby boxes. Last year, I had a pretty nice run of luck with retail Prizm packs. This year, I bought a ton and probably did not pan out as well. From this sub, I did pull another Silver Prizm as well as one of the Green Prizms out of retail packs. Most recently, I got lucky and hit a Luka Auto out of a Prizm blaster! While I am still probably down overall in opening packs, that is the price of admission and the fun of pulling your own Gem is its own ROI!

It’s tough, not every raw Silver I’ve seen on eBay is a gem. There may be a few at any given time and they find their way up in prices. Especially since they started to make their way into slabs. Obviously you did great work in landing a hoard haha

Very nice results for sure...I bought a bunch of the minor issues of Luka back in December after seeing him play a couple times...he looked to me to be a keeper...what do you think your average cost was, if I might ask, for the Silver Prizm Luka cards you bought raw?

I agree, Luka does look to be a keeper. It will be interesting when Zion Williamson comes to the NBA. He has a ton of hype already and I wonder what will happen to Luka's card prices when there is a new rookie for people to chase.

When I first got back to collecting in 2012, I was almost exclusively a vintage collector. When my son was old enough we started opening boxes of modern product because he didn't care so much about people he never saw before. So I started getting into those shiny cards too. Now I like to buy and sub my own modern cards, whereas I usually just buy already graded for vintage.

Alright, it took longer than the previously normal 45 BD's but less than the newly minted 65 BD wait for my January bulk sub to pop. I guess that is a wash. With grades like I received, I am willing to wait the extra 10 days

I am a huge basketball card collector, so I understand completely how much this means to you. Congrats on all the beautiful cards you have. I love the different variations on the revolution and prizm cards. Right now I'm working on both of these sets myself. I just landed a sweet 2018 panini prizm fast break neon green jerry west 5/5 last month. Anyway congrats on the cards. Masterpieces worthy of being in a museum!🖼

Much appreciated! Yes, I am a basketball collector at heart and that is 90% of my collection, despite the heavy baseball lean in this last sub. I really like Doncic as a player and I will sell some dupes but am happy to be amassing a nice variety of cards for him. Congrats on the West 5/5. Did you pull that from a box or buy as a single. I think the Fast Break Prizm boxes have been priced very cheaply until very recently and I wish I had bought some to open. I opened some last year and pulled a 5/5, but my neon green was Omer Asik, haha. You did better.
Thanks, I seem to be getting the hang of grading modern cards at least. I still am a little gun shy on submitting vintage, but it is fun looking on eBay trying to find the right card to buy for subbing.
Thanks Darin. I can't wait for them to get in hand. Like most of my subs, there will be several cards that will go into the collection and many that will be sold to pay for the next batch of cards to sub. And on and on it goes... lol.
Thanks Bryan. I still have a ways to go to match your eye, but I am on my way. I don't know if you remember, but actually one of the best subs I ever did was one where you let me piggyback and you "previewed" the cards for me. I think you charged something like $1 per card for the preview and you sent me notes on the cards you looked at. I learned so much from your help on that sub that it really was the foundation of my learning curve into grading. I can't thank you enough!

I do the same thing. Picked up some mail return label stickers and print them too just like yours. I actually put the line # on there as well.
Mine is a bulk sub with some other members from here. I often wonder if you keep sports or even eras separate if that would also sped the process. My sub that’s there now is a complete hodge podge of years, sports, and non sports.
Edit: I see you put the line number as well on closer inspection. I go as far as labeling as such:

I would bet that is the holdup. I am convinced that if you are able to keep all cards within a certain era and better yet a specific sport or set, your grades will typically pop faster. This may be completely off base, but that is my opinion based on an admittedly small sample size.
Wow!!! I have never called on a sub to check on it. I am generally very patient, but I think even I would be lobbing PSA CS asking about my sub after 100+ days. Thanks for the kind words and good luck on your sub! For that kind of wait you deserve some good grades if not a medal.

Actually slum22, I got a good deal on the west 5/5 on ebay. Bought it for $19.00 + shipping. I love Jerry West so I had to pounce on it before anyone else did! I'm working on getting a 2017 panini revolution galactic Jerry West now. The galactic variation is more rare and a little more pricey, but its worth it. I'm just waiting for the right one to come along.

Based on what I hear in other groups I'm in, some people are getting killed. So I don't THINK they'd issue higher grades as a result. I think the higher grades above are due to the cards being recent and it's pretty easy to get 10s on current shiny stuff as compared to older cards.

Still hard to figure why some orders get done so quickly while others lag for months...I sent in 121 Topps baseball cards from the 80's, 90's and early 2000's...all base cards, all star cards...so yes, a pretty easy order to grade....received 2/19/2019 and shipped today...and it was actually done last Friday but I was having trouble getting my debit card properly charged, so technically the order was done 3/29/2019....month and a half...pretty happy with that...will be sending in 150 or so soon, and that will be a very eclectic order, with cards, sports, years ranging wildly, and many inserts, autos and other very low pop cards...I am guessing this order is going to take 3 to 4 months...

Nice deal on the West 5/5. Galactics have shot up in price in the last 6 months to a year or so. Good luck on grabbing that one. They are nice cards, but for the RC's I collect they are out of my price range.

Yes, I don't understand why PSA doesn't have a more organized system. I would think you could just take orders in the order they come in for each service. I am sure I am missing something but it seems you would get a lot less complaints if they would just do a first in, first out system within grading structures.
Ok, the sub is in hand and unpacked and scanned. There is no better time for me in this hobby than unpacking a sub of Gem Mint cards and scanning them, lol. This was the first time I had such a baseball heavy sub as my subs are usually 80-90% basketball. I will end up moving a lot of the baseball stuff and keep a few cards like the Topps 698 Acuna and Heritage Action Acuna out of that section. For the basketball section, the cards I was happiest about were two of the lesser valued cards: the Stephen Curry Blue All Star card, it is jersey numbered #30/49 and the Kevin Durant Cornerstones Crystal card which is also jersey numbered #35/89. They go into my Warriors jersey number PC, which is small but growing. The Luka Donruss Lasers are also very nice, the Red/Blue is serial numbered to only /15. Probably the biggest disappointment was the Kevin Durant Black Velocity Optic which is numbered to /39. I will try and see what I missed through the case. It may be a crack and resub candidate. Anyway, thanks for sharing in my excitement! I will also update the first post in the thread with the scans and without further ado...
As a running tracker out of my three subs I now am running 95/103 on PSA 10's with 95 Gems and 8 PSA 9's.

I agree with you about the feeling when you get when you unpack a new submission. I hear it's 100X more thrilling if you can wait until they actually arrive instead of knowing the grades online first, but I've never been able to show that kind of patience. Again, great sub.
Yes, I remember. That was a long time ago during the Andrew Luck craze, and it was .50 per card, not $1 LOL. I only charge $1 outside of group subs and non CU members. Regardless, you're pumping out amazing results now. Keep it up.

I sent in another renewal sub in May and just got it in hand today. The sub got a total of 14 PSA 10's and 1 PSA 9. Two of the 10's belonged to a friend who piggybacked on my sub. Obviously, I was hoping for a clean sweep, but I am very excited to get these grades. All of the baseball will end up for sale, the majority of the Luka Doncic cards will go into my PC for him. I really like the Blue Optics which are numbered to only /49 (so to have 6% of the possible print run in 10's is cool). I will also be keeping the Purple Wave and Fast Break Blue Lukas, but I will end up moving both the Silver Prizm and Auto to fund different cards.
