Rim filings

If a circulated coin has a nice brown patina or dirty gunmetal grey color, but small parts of the rim are shiny silver and look smoother, is this evidence of rim filing or other doctoring to smooth out rim dings? If not, any explanation why would there be this color variation on just small areas of the rim. Thanks for your guidance.

Maybe jewelry mounting.
Can we get a close up pic?
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
Sorry no current pics. Was looking at some key date Morgans in the F-VF grade on EBAY for pricing guide and maybe fill some gaps, and saw 1 that that had this characteristic, which stands-out when the coin is otherwise brown. If I see the pic again will add to the post.
I think Smudge is right, appears some jewelry mounting, at 1:00, 5, 7 & 10:00 on the obv and also areas on the rev. I liked the color but wondered why this discoloration. EBAY has a 93 S PCGS with details grading for rim filings and the seller had nice closeups. Thanks!
