This unusual Morgan arrived this morning and I'm still trying to figure out how it toned the way it did. It has a deep luster
that doesn't show up in the photo and the surfaces are virtually mark free. One thing I'm sure of, it's original!

Looks like there might have been a piece of tape covering the front area while it toned.

End of roll wrapper toning.
At first glance, I agree with the piece of tape idea.
How weird is that. I guess the nt is not gonna migrate over to the bare naked chin anytime soon. Peace Roy

EOR toning
The square area was covered by some neutral substance... perhaps tape.... I do not think it is EOR tarnish since the rims, which would usually be covered by the 'roll' of the packaging are tarnished... JMO... Cheers, RickO
Tape on the end of a roll. All are correct I suspect.
I nice piece with a mystery - like it. Interesting coin sorta a best of both worlds view.
Thought they were stored in bags, not rolls?
They originally were, but a lot were put in paper rolls after they were distributed.
If you take away the spikes on the portrait, the coin would have more eye appeal IMO, Peter.
Many dollar rolls are just too short on the paper tube. I've seen many that were taped shut by the owners.
Never that nice toning though!

Pretty Morgan.
