So now it seems that this recognition is going to go away? I can’t for the life of me understand what would ever make PCGS consider removing that completely free form of digital recognition that has been basically the final thing left after all others have been dropped in the last few years. There is literally no cost to maintain some digital tags on people’s sets perpetually. Those same tags motivate myself and many other collectors and now they will just disappear. The brand new collector that spends a bunch of cash to vault into first place for the first time will appear to be more consequential than the seasoned collector who has held first place for the last 20 or 30 years? Why? To what purpose? It literally makes zero sense to me.

So for what it’s worth, if this is actually the direction you go PCGS, I will likely stop bothering to build up my sets in your set registry. The service has already been so pared down in the last few years that taking this last step feels like you’re trying to make whatever small accomplishments I’ve made feel even more meaningless. It’s a real shame.

PS: feel free to super duper highlight 40 different sets if you want, just leave what’s there already to continue getting its annual tags in perpetuity at the same time.

I'll start with a couple that are no longer with us, but we were glad to have them for a short while!

This 1924-D in MS65 Brown PCGS was the nicest one we have ever handled.

1909 VDB in MS67 Red and Brown. The Trueview pretty much speaks for itself.

Both of these are in a fine Toned Lincolns Registry Set.

1. The 2018-S Reverse proof coin maxes out at PR70. There is no CAM/DCAM designation due to the coin being what it is.
   

So why is there a -2 deduction on this slot?

2. The All-Time Finest (All Eras) list has collections that are shown as 100% completed but in reality they are not.
   Most are missing coins from about 2015 to present. How can they be marked 100% complete? I get that they may have been retired before those coins came out but the retired set is now in no way complete...

• This brings me to the last point that ties #1 and #2 above... Since the All-Time Finest sets don't have the 2018-S Reverse Proof with the deduction they will always be at the top of the leaderboards for having the Weighted GPA, GPA with Top
  Pop Bonuses and Set Rating that can't be beat.

Please make this make sense to me.

Take this screenshot of the 1892 Isabella Quarter. Here you will see the improved formatting for provenance, past auctions, and current Set Registry status. The outbound links to the auction lots allow you another way to see the coin in the context of the market and the other coins at the "top of pops." I've always viewed coins as individual characters in a larger story, and I think this presentation makes the case that the finest examples of any given coin have their own personalities and stories to tell.

I've used this system for my own market research for years, and I'm glad that I can share this with you on PCGS's fantastic CoinFacts platform.

The pace for these updates has been between 125–200 a month, with a good mix of modern, classic, rare, and collector coins. I'm sure you will see updates to your favorite series soon.

I also participate in the NGC Registry, and they do not have nonsense like this. If you just have one coin, they will quickly find a home for it. They also reply within a couple of days, not months ...

The simple way of putting it, by the usual rules obverse is side with coat of arms and reverse is side with denomination, a lot of the time people think its other way around and to be honest, I wouldnt care either way if it was consistent.

To see what I mean lets do it by denomination:

5 Halierov
MS63 Coat of Arms is first picture

MS64 Number is first picture

Reality:

Both of the coins are coat of arms on label side

10 Halierov I dont have TV one one of them and second one has Euroview but, that doesnt mean everything is all right

20 Halierov 1940 and 1942 (both CU and ALU) are missing TV but the two that have it

do have it other way around

Funnily enough just like the 5 Haliers, they have the same label side (To point out, the three 20 Haliers without TV were slabbed together)

50 Halierov, now this one is pure fun, three coins and each slabbed/TVd differently

1940 is "correct", 1941 has "correct" TV but "wrong" label side, 1944 has "wrong" TV but "correct" label side

1 Koruna, this gets much more simple 3 of the coins (graded together) dont have TV and are slabbed the same way but they have flipped label side (The truviews are correctly placed on the two coins so Im not including them to reduce amount of clutter in this post)

For the rest of the denominations, label sides and TVs are correct and label side is the denomination/design/person consistently, apart for two Cyrill and Metodius 20 Korun 1941 (graded together) which have coat of arms on label side but their TV is also flipped

So why I made this post? I just wanted to point out how random/inconsistent label side / first true view is when it comes to world coins and hope that PCGS could make up its mind, I honestly dont care that much if coat of arms or denomination is on label side, I would just love if it looked good when I look at them or show them, this inconsistency looks quite half-assed/cheap imo.

I wonder what are your experiences? Do you have always obverse on label side or at least having it consistent or just like me dice throw?

just as disclaimer: I dont look for reslabbing/moving trueviews or anything like that, I was already once offered to make TVs (the coins without TVs were supposed to have TVs but by mistake they werent, PCGS offered to fix it for free covering expenses but I live in EU and didnt want to risk them getting lost nor wanted to risk paying 20% import tax on stuff I already owned because customs can be stupid like that)

I've acquired 3 coins so far in 2026 and all 3 of them had the cert. number still listed in the previous owners set inventory. Nothing kills the fun of adding your latest coin purchase more than not being able to add it to your set. Then, you have to go through the red tape of taking pictures, Emails, waiting 3 days, and all the other non-sense.

Yes, I know, before you say anything, you can scan said coin to your phone app. and it adds it right there and then, but that isn't the point. When you sell your coin please remove the cert. number.

Addressing Registry Integrity: "PCGS Only"

We have followed the recent community discussions regarding high-profile collections containing coins that may no longer be in PCGS holders. We understand how "cracked out coins" impact the leaderboards and the morale of the community.

As we move forward, we are reaffirming the core principle of the program: The PCGS Set Registry is for PCGS-graded coins currently in PCGS holders. To that end, sets containing coins that have been removed from PCGS holders will not qualify for awards in the 2026 competition, but will remain on the active leaderboards for the time being.

While we recognize that large-scale updates to the system take time, we are working diligently to ensure the integrity of our data and population reports remain the gold standard for the industry.

I'm must be doing something wrong as this is my THIRD request to the same problem which hasn't received any response. The first was August, 2025, the second around 30 days ago and now this one. This doesn't include the verbal request I related to a PCGS Customer Service Rep on Wednesday, April 22 at CSNS show in Chicago.

I completed the 9 coin Dahlonega type set in July of 2025. My set is currently in 2nd place and the only reason I can tell why it's not in first place is there is an obvious numeric gap between the GPA weighted rating and the set rating of my set. All other 100% sets have equal numeric ratings.

Considering the deadline for the set registry is about 6 weeks away, my experience to date is frustrating.

Would appreciate some type of acknowledgment.

PS. I tried sending email to support@pcgs.com but got no response.

I’m a relatively new collector and recent member of the PCGS family (joined a few months ago and submitted my first coins in January 2026), and I wanted to start by saying how much I appreciate everything PCGS does. The grading quality, the registry sets, and the overall resources have made coin collecting even more enjoyable for me. One feature I’ve really liked is the Achievements section on the website—it’s a cool way to recognize milestones and adds a bit of fun to the hobby.

That said, I noticed the current list of achievements feels a little limited and hasn’t been updated in quite a while. As someone who loves games and progression systems, I believe expanding the achievements could be a fantastic, low-effort way to boost engagement across the platform.

Why Gamification Works for Coin Collecting

Achievements turn collecting into a rewarding journey rather than just a checklist. They encourage people to explore different areas of numismatics, complete sets, try new categories, and stay active on the site. Many modern hobbies (trading cards, video games, fitness apps, etc.) use this approach successfully, and it keeps users coming back.

Benefits for Younger Collectors

This could be especially powerful for bringing in the next generation. A lot of younger people (teens through 30s) are discovering coins through social media, TikTok, YouTube, and shows like Pawn Stars (I know it is an old show, but I watched it a lot with my dad). They’re used to earning badges, levels, and unlocks. More achievements would make PCGS feel modern and welcoming to them, helping grow the hobby long-term. It’s a fun, low-pressure way to learn about history, rarity, and different coin series without feeling intimidating.

Low Cost, High Potential Reward

Compared to a full website redesign or big marketing campaign, adding more achievements seems like a relatively straightforward update on the backend. You could roll them out gradually, and the engagement boost (more set registrations, more submissions, more time spent on the site) could easily pay for itself. It looks to me that the last time an achievement was added was in 2019.

Some Achievement Ideas

Here are a few friendly suggestions to get the conversation started:

Series Completion – “Full Lincoln Wheat Cent” or “Complete Morgan Dollar Set by Date & Mint”
Rarity Hunter – Submit or own a coin graded MS/PR 65+ with a population under 50
Diverse Collector – Own one graded coin from each major U.S. denomination (or from 10+ different countries)
Error & Variety Master – Register multiple major varieties or error coins
First Year / Last Year – Own a first-year or last-year issue from multiple series
Toning Enthusiast – Register coins with exceptional natural toning (could tie into existing photo uploads)
Registry Climber – Reach Top 1000, Top 500, or Top10 in any Registry Set
Submission Milestones – 10th, 25th, 50th, or 100th coin submitted for grading or adding to inventory.
Thematic Sets – “Bicentennial Bonanza,” “Presidential Portraits,” “Wildlife on Coins,” etc.
Community Contributor – Write a review, upload high-quality photos, or participate in forums regularly (its seems like these forums have this but it is not connected back to our accounts on PCGS. Might be wrong, but still learning)
Seasonal or limited-time achievements (e.g., “Summer of Silver” or holiday-themed) could also create excitement.

Closing Thoughts

I’m genuinely excited about PCGS and want to see the community keep growing and thriving. Adding more achievements feels like an easy win that rewards loyal collectors while attracting new ones. I’d love to hear the team’s thoughts or even help brainstorm more ideas if that’s useful!

I have called PCGS, been asked to email all the cert numbers, have done so (about 10 days ago) and have still not received the help I apparently need having the cert numbers actually entered into my sets.

I first reported this coin here back in 2017, when I noticed unusual doubled stars on the edge lettering. At that time, the coin was not attributed by PCGS, and opinions varied on whether this was a true variety or a production anomaly.

In 2019, I had the opportunity to show the coin at the Long Beach Expo to a senior PCGS grader. Following that, one specimen was submitted and later attributed by PCGS as SP69 Doubled Edge Lettering (DEL).

Over time, I identified at least one more example with the same characteristics. This second coin was submitted for crossover, but was returned as DNC, with the explanation that PCGS no longer recognizes this type of edge variety.

The situation became more interesting when this DEL variety appeared as a required slot in the PCGS Set Registry set “Sacagawea Dollars Complete Set with Edge Errors (2000-present).” Since only one known PCGS-attributed example exists, this effectively made the set impossible to complete.

After contacting PCGS, I was informed that this slot has now been removed from the set.

So currently we have the following situation:

• One PCGS-certified DEL example exists
• At least one additional similar specimen exists (confirmed by ANACS)
• PCGS no longer attributes this variety
• The Registry slot has been removed
• The base 2015-W Enhanced coin remains in the set

I am not questioning the decision, but I find this situation interesting from a numismatic perspective.

How should collectors view a variety that was once attributed, still exists in a PCGS holder, but is no longer recognized and has been removed from the Registry?

I would be interested to hear thoughts from others who have encountered similar cases.
