Ptolemy VI, Not So Fancy Eagle

Well, as a second addition to my coins from the Ptolemaic Kingdom collection that I have recently started as a foray into Greek Egypt, I picked up this little dude. An AE27 from Ptolemy VI, 180 - 145BC. A nice rendering of Zeus/Alexander on the obverse. The reverse has the eagle motif so popular with the Ptolemies. This coin was harshly cleaned at some point, but it was a super bargain and needed a home next to my other Ptolemy.

What I like and use often is that under the first link on that page, COIN PHOTOS - View Mint and Denomination Series of Ptolemaic Bronzes, you can figure out under which Ptolemy a coin is from and from what mint. Warning, it's a huge page and can load slowly.

Determined, thanks a ton! I will be going through this site often I think. I have been looking for some more info on these Ptolemy bronzes and it was like you read my mind.
