No, my wife wouldn't like that.

If it helps, the coin is Saurmasche-1967

I was going to suggest match.com -- but, I guess you mean a different kind of "dating".

I think it's about time we carbon-dated Ajaan. Something tells me he's older than Aethelred image

Certainly it dates from before the Thirty Years' War. 15th-16th century.

With the long cross design that is present I would place the approximate
time near the 1370's forward. The long cross design was also used in Germany
for their Groschens. Some believe that the design (long cross) prevented
clipping of the coinage. I hope this was helpful.

P.S. The coin is in remarkable condition.

My GERMAN ancestors were from this area. The coin is going into my "box of 20".

    Lovely coin.
I might have to add that to my ever growing want list.

My wife has ancestors from Straßburg and I have ancestors from Strasbourg. image

I can almost imagine a worshipper in Strasbourg Cathedral (begun in the eleventh century) handling that coin. I took this image of it last month during a three day visit to Alsace.

That cathedral is more evidence that we achieved some of our greatest art before the industrial age.

The marvel is that it took 252 years to complete, and no one LOST THE BLUEPRINTS in that time. image

Stone mason, after stone mason; father to son, father to son. I wonder if they started speeding the build process as the decades went by???

Great job security. When you consider how many generations were born and bred into the construction, one imagines an entire subculture evolving. Anthropologist's playground I bet.

The coin is truly in remarkable condition, with a very simple and pleasant design. And this is coming from an allergic to medieval coins.

No one complimented shroom on his photography? How easily this forum forgets.....image It took you a while, but you finally got there, something that can't be said for so many of us, especially now that smartphones produce better images than a simple camera, provided of course that one owns a smartphone and not a 19 euro mobile phone such as myself.image
