So far I have not been able to find this in my Krause - it is quite a bit out of my normal expertise. Not necessarily the best of pictures just a quick pic with my phone

    Mine either, but the symbol above the "V" is the mint mark.

    1732 Gelderland VOC Duit, listed under Netherland East Indies. KM#50.1, common coin, worth $5 at most.

    That explains it - I had assumed it was Gelderland from the shield and legend but my version of Krause does not include 50.1, just 50.2

    Looks like copper to me, at least the first image resembles my well-worn Britannia pennies circa late 19th century. I'll bet it has that lovely smooth buttery oily feel under your fingers, too image
