I learn something every day, some British Trade Dollars were made in India

I thought British Trade Dollars were all made in London, but some were made in India.

I have had one since the 1960's, it is pretty beat up.

There were some made in Calcutta too with a C mintmark down by the shield.

The ones with no mintmark are London strikes. The 1921-B wasn't released to circulation, and is the rarest. Stacks auctioned an NGC AU in 2010 I believe the hammer was just over $47,000. Back in 2005 (?) Heritage sold an MS63 for over $48,000. I think that one was PCGS.

I think 1934 and 1935 had the lowest mintages of released coins. It was definitely two 1930s dates, perhaps '32 and '35.

This series has one of the most, it not the most, difficult mint mark to read and find if you don't know where to look.

Apparently this design is also good at concealing chopmarks. Graded PCGS MS63 image
