Very nice pick-up. I've been hunting a good example for a while.

Edited to add: Obverse looks almost proof.

    Iturbide? Whoa, aren't those tough?

I really like the color and look of that coin. I expected to see something a bit cruder.

    I would guess AU50-53?

No... 55... 58... each time I look at it my opinion rises a little bit.

The more I look at it, the more I like it. Nice chicken eagle. I wish there was a way to figure out which mint it came out of...

The more I look at it, the more I like it. That's my thoughts too. The design is quite simplistic and basic but sometimes less is more.

Yeah, I dig the originality of this piece. Would love to see it in-hand sometimes. One of the best examples of this issue I've seen.

WOW. I've owned two Itrurbide 8 Rs, but neither was anywhere close to that. That is a great coin.
    A keeper for sure.

Does anyone really kmow the difference between the KM 304 and KM 305......because according to NGC I have the KM 305 and its listed in Krause as
    rare with no price......

Krause says the KM 305 is: Obv: Bust similar to 8 Escudos, KM#131 Rev: Crowned eagle ....

But when I enter KM#131 it brings me to a 2 escudo piece...?????

Holy cow...!......I just now noticed this......only one in NGC census and its this piece....

I bought it as the common variety ( which is very tough in higher grade itself).....KM 304.

COULD IT REALLY BE A KM 305?

HOW DO I KNOW FOR SURE?

    DID NGC make a mistake?

    Any experts out there?

Looks like a usual bust for this date to me. I've already packed all my references for the move, so can't look it up.

BTW, here's the bust of the KM131 and it looks different than the bust on your piece.

I see a Mexico City mint mark there or am I missing something?

Clearly Mexico City mint, like all Iturbide coins.

No idea where my old comment about mint came from.
