Experience buying "Our Choice" bullion?

These items from venders are lower priced and seem to sell quick. Anyone have any horror stories or great surprises to share? I'm thinking about buying some but if it's not worth it I'd rather pay a bit more to know what I'm getting into. It's always fun to open a mystery box though.

I did it once for under 20 ounces. I received mostly oddball size casino tokens. None of them had brass rings or anything. But none of them were marked with their weights, some weren't even marked .999. Weights were in the 10 gram to 25 gram range per piece.

Some of them were kind of neat, but I wouldn't go for it again.

I think at best you'd receive 1 oz xmas/birthday/holiday/anniversary bars/rounds.

In one case probably considered damaged; in the other maybe not. If you plan to sell them, check with potential sellers BEFORE you buy or buy sight seen.

I remember long ago I bought 5 oz and got a lightly toned sunshine bar. This was provident I believe. I just did Apmex and the box is in my mailbox waiting for me to get home. I did 15 oz asking for 10 oz or 5 oz bars. I'll post tonight.

I just wanted to get a feel before I leap into something like our choice platinum bars or something like that. I've seen reviews of people getting nice Engelhards, while others getting bars that looks like they were dragged on the ground.

Anyone have first hand experiences?

Ive gotten a norfed in a junk box before. Also had a dealer send 20 tubes of Gem PL Norfeds to me as generic silver rounds. Took awhile to move the norfeds but was well worth it.

90% of the time its mix dated or off brand makers.

Pinehurst describes their AGEs as quoted below and priced a little lower. I believe some might refer to them as scrapers.

Is that what they'd call grab bag bullion?

Here it is:

An old unmarked hand poured bar at 9.23 T.O. Pretty neat! Wish it was branded.

5 buffalo 1 oz rounds

Two Andrew Jackson liberty lobby 240 grain rounds = 1.1 oz total

Total silver: 15.33 oz for the price of 15......not bad.

APMEX can be pretty sweet . A few years ago during the IRS year end sale they had listed some later date 8 reales from mexico random condition and years.

I ordered some of them and I put a note on the order that said "please Santa , all I want for Xmas is some with chopmarks"

When they showed up that is what I got on half of them some were BU coins as well.

Whenever you are ordering something that there is some discretion on their end as to what you might receive it pays to leave a note.

If you liked hand poured bars I bet you would get at least some if you asked nicely.
