Newby looking advice on getting into detecting; makes and models, cost, etc

Hi all,

I am looking at getting into metal detecting to get outside more and finding a hobby. I am wondering what makes and models of detectors would be best for a beginner. Also looking for costs associated with a beginner machine. I live in the Midwest and would be looking at detecting at local beaches, old schools, and parks.

I appreciate and look forward to any feedback.

Garrett Ace 250 or 350. That was my first machine, and I found hundreds of coins with it.

What kind of price range should I expect with one of those?

The Garrett 250/350 is a good choice for a beginner machine. Accessories such as a pinpointer, trowel, apron etc., are also necessary... Cheers, RickO
