Sale 1 & 2 which was in June 1983 are just the Brand collection holdings that were given to his niece Jane.
Most of Virgil's collection was sold off after his death in 1926 into the 1940's.
The catalog for sale number 2 is twice as thick as the 1st, but again is gold and a ton of exonumia including merchant store cards, political campaign, & medals.
If Brand's collection had been kept intact it would have covered more catalogs then John Fords.
Brand was the ultimate hoarder as if 1 was good... Owning 45 was even better.
To Err Is Human.... To Collect Err's Is Just Too Much Darn Tootin Fun!
Comments
It's mostly all $1 through $20 gold and California fractional gold with some foreign gold, copper restikes, & Gobrecht dollars.
