I just got the TrueView photo of this 1966 SP66 Kennedy Half Dollar yesterday. Thank you Phil Arnold!
I am not sure I have ever seen better color on an SMS Kennedy ...
Also I wanted to give a shout out to Robec, who birddogged this coin for me. He actually tried to buy it himself and made three offers to the seller but was turned down ... so he emailed me and told me to make a play. Here are slightly larger images of the Obverse and Reverse. Seeing larger images makes me think this has a shot at an SP67 or maybe even an SP67+.
This purchase allowed me to finish one of the best SMS (composite) sets I've ever seen. All coins are PCGS graded. Grades are SP66, SP66, SP68, SP67, SP66BN
A zoomed image on this coin really brings out a few fantastic features. Check out the blue elevation chromatics in Kennedy's hair (wow). And I love the colorful orange/raspberry flow lines around the rim (double wow). I think it might be one of the most beautiful PCGS-graded colorfully-toned Kennedy Half DollarsI've ever seen.

Super looking coin! I love the pinks.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
looks better than a 66

The dime and nickel are a bit tame by WL57 standards -- I presume you will eventually replace those 2 with some color.

You only need to find a toned 1966 SMS nickel to have a completely toned set. Of course, finding toned SMS nickels is almost impossible. Have you ever seen any? I have a couple of SMS nickels that have some (but not much) toning on them. For some reason the proof nickels seem to develop toning much easier than the SMS nickels.
I really enjoy your posts, your love of toned coins, the photos you post and the album displays you create.

Hey, don't knock my SP68 Dime, the rose color is gorgeous. But I agree that I need a toned SMS Jefferson.

SanctionII, you are 100% correct.
I did buy a barely toned 1966 SMS Jefferson today, but it's no monster -- just a bit of golden color around the edges.
For some reason SMS Jeffersons rarely if ever tone (not entirely sure why).
Thanks for the kudos on my coin boards. I find designing that kind of stuff fun.

gr8 images and coins, sms no less. wow
those beveled obverses can be a mother to light up all the way around. unless one is the best photographer in the world and maybe not even then, i think it can't be done with only 2 lights.
although the irony is, maybe it can be done with only 1. guess it depends on the hood diameter. mine at 6" are simply too wide.

Chatter marks = 66 grade. Awesome coin, but let's not go for grade-inflation.
