NumisMe WINs ****Lucky**** 'Speared Bison' Nickel - Congrats/Nice Snipe! And Thanks to all who parti

Mike Ellis at CONECA finally got the coin that I mailed him, and said this:
Heavy die scratch in an interesting location. He is sending coin next to Eric at Coin World, who says this:
Die "scratch" and "gouge" are matters of degree. Either is man-applied, usually and presumptively accidental. Scratches and gouges, like most cracks and breaks (from natural forces), are no big deal in themselves. But the mark on your nickel is notable for length and location. You already have a good little quantity and there are probably enough out there to warrant a footnote in some future reference. And sometimes what becomes popular and in high demand is beyond fathoming.

Last day for the 1/2 charity auction over on the BST board - ends tonite. Bid now if you won't be around later. Thanks to all.

What do you think is a kewl name for this coin?
For everyone who wants to trash the Buffalo - please start your own thread. While I agree that the design leaves a bit to be desired and that Jeffy could use a little more hair, I am still excited about the recent nickel changes, and my error find - whether it ends up being large or small. It was still fun.
At least we have two years of change in the nickel, and then the '06 for the grande finale. Let's just hope we end up on the '06 with something we want to see for many years.
ANNOUNCEMENT! part of thread:
To top off this thread - and since I have had many offers from MANY people interested in purchasing a coin (not selling), I am going to auction off one of the coins - LIVE on the BST Board - starting today - soon. Some of the proceeds from the sale of the coin, once listed, will be give directly to Jeremy/AirplaneNut's Charity Auction.
I have decided that 1/2 of sale price is a good mix. A pic of the 'exact' coin you will be bidding on is posted on the BST Board.
Rules are also posted on BST Board - since this forum is really not to the place to do so. More info and details 'over there'!
One last thing: I like this place - thanks to all of your informative posts. I have made some good friends, and hope to make many more.
Sincerely,
Pam

Edit: PHOTOS OF EXACT COIN NOW POSTED
P.S. Even if you don't want to bid on the coin - go over the BST Board and check it out. I won't provide a link because I don't want anyone to get down on me for posting this on the wrong board.

****PRESS RELEASE****
2005 ‘Speared Bison’ Error Nickel Found in Texas!
Sunday, March 13, 2005
A new and exciting error/die anomalie has just been discovered in Texas! On March 10, Pamela Ryman-Moir discovered a ‘spear’ going through the Bison’s back on the just released 2005 Bison Nickel, the third in a series of the new nickel coin designs by the U.S. Mint.
After discovering 6 in the first roll, Pam then proceeded to open all rolls of coins, and found a total of 27 of this error. All error 'spears' all appear to be the same on all 27 coins, and all are on the Denver mint coins.
For more information you may email Pam at: TxRok@aol.com

FYI, for those who wonder what I will do with my 1/2 of the high bid:
I am going to use the money to have a few of these coins graded -
It will be another FIRST - my first coin(s) to ever be graded -for my FIRST error coin that I have ever found on the FIRST Speared Bison Nickel to be found in US.
I guess that's lots of firsts. Didn't realize it until I was typing this.
Anyway it's all been a lot of fun.
Thanks to everyone. TTT's appreciated until 9 PM EST tomorrow - that's 10 PM CST, and Midnite for the West Coasters.
Remember - this auction is NOT on eBay - ONLY on the BST Board - so only hand sniping will apply!
