A board mamber says thanks and goodbye.

Got an E-Mail and was asked to post this.

<< <i>Also........jadecoin got kicked off of the PCGS forum. Guess Mr. Hall did not like the Norweb issue. They also deleted the threads related to that subject.

Could you do us a favor and start a new thread on the forum? Just say that jadecoin was "escorted out of the forum" and will not be back. Also, please tell everyone that we enjoyed conversing with them in cyberspace and we learned a lot from fellow collectors and dealers. Best wishes to all members.

What in the world was so controversial about the Noweb issue? I didn't see it, but inquiring minds want to know.

That is a shame. I think the situation should have been handled differently.

I did not follow the the complete thread, but for Jade to be kicked off the boards for that is absolutely crazy. From the little I read about what happened, they were completely in the right for being mad, and PCGS should have made right with them.

IMO, anything controversial wasn't from them- they simply stated their side of the story image

That is a bunch of BS!!! You hear me David Hall???

What a freaking Nazi regime it has become!!

Unless I missed something in the thread, I didnt see anything defamatory about PCGS other than they made a mistake and should have corrected it.

It had to do with a listing in some catalog not matching a coin that Jadecoin had with a Norweb pedigree. Jadecoin sent the coin in for review, and it came back to him with no explanation in a non-pedigree slab. Irate, understandably. Kicked off the forum - well, it's PCGS' call, but I don't see a reason for it from what I saw.

I am also disappointed that jadecoin is no longer here. James was a nice and very funny guy. I am glad that I will still see him at St. Louis coin shows. I think PCGS handled this rather poorly, as well.

The title of Jade's thread was something like "Did we get screwed by PCGS?"

    Apparently, the answer is "Yes".

PCGS removed a coin with a Norweb pedigree from the holder and reholdered it without the pedigree? How hard would that have been to fix?

    Yikes.

If that thread were the sole reason for their banning, this crosses the line. Yes, it's PCGS's forum and, yes, they can do what they please. But that thread was not an unwarranted and vicious attack as so many others have been. I don't think they have to stand by and take pot shots from members who have no real legitimate beef, but PCGS should be willing to stand up to some criticism on issues of real merit.

I really don't get it. If you disagree with what PCGS is doing, you get kicked off. From what I read about the story, Jade simply posted their story. It obviously got a lot of attention as the story was on page one for a long time. It would seem to me that any other business would have made an effort to correct the situation and make everyone involved happy. It is just good business, regardless of whether the guarantee covers this or not.

I really like coin collecting, but am starting to wonder about this grading system, how things are graded, and the guarantees.

there was also another thread on here earlier started by another member saying that they couldn't access the original thread................
Jade posted to it a couple of times.........saying that Dennis has been keeping track of how many times he's tried to call David Hall, etc....

A low blow tonite in my opinion.

    NOTHING warranted their banishment.

I would suggest collecting "raw" coins...it's a whole lot more fun, and you don't end up paying a mint for a bunch of plastic.

I think it's fair to assume that it will now be handled in the "proper" forum. As a PCGS shareholder, I find that less than ideal.

I don't think this was a baseless attack. I don't think Jade was pro grading services, but from what has happened to them, Should they be??

I have always given PCGS the benefit of doubt when it came to the airing of dirty laundry on this forum. Usually it was nothing other than sour grapes over a grading decision. But in this case PCGS clearly has screwed the pooch one way or the other and should have stood up and took it on the chin in a professional way. All Jadecoin did was say what occured and didn't really badmouth PCGS. The pressure on PCGS was applied by all of us who took sides with jadecoin. Banning jadecoin from this forum was a bad decision in my eyes. PCGS has just dropped substantially on my Credibility Scale.image

I think if Jadecoin tried to work with PCGS before posting "Did we get screwed by PCGS" perhaps he wouldn't have needed an escort.

    B.S.

From Gmarguli on, I've never understood why PCGS feels the need to kick people off of here. It seems self-defeating and stupid to me to bring all this negative attention to themselves, far beyond the attention anything jadecoin or Numised or Gmarguli ever wrote here.

The self-defeating nature of such a policy has been discussed here in detail in past situations as this, yet they still do it.

My experience here is that this is a microcosm of life, and people/displeasure/complaints come and go, with few permanent effects. Letting things run their course (except for obviously vicious trolling which the consensus around here overtly condemns) always seems to work out better.

Strange they don't listen. Guess they feel doesn't matter, because we all sheep-like keep coming back. Myself included.

    Fats,

I agree with you 100%.. As a business and very large business as they are, they should have compensated Jade. All us forum members put the squeeze on them, and they acted by eliminating the problem instead of using this to make them look good in front of us all and making things right.

Maybe they will realize they were wrong and appologize to Jadeimage

I find this whole situation unfortunate. I like these boards and have made many new contacts that I otherwise would never have made. I think it is appropriate to have a monitor to prevent SPAMMERS and other posts inappropriate posts (porn, etc.). Aside from that, these boards should be sponsored by PCGS in good faith to be "free" boards, available to members of the collector's club. Free to express any thought germain to coin collecting. PCGS reaps the benefit of "sponsoring" these boards by developing goodwill throughout the collecting community, but in reality the collectors are paying for this service with their dues and business. The monitoring should end with blatantly inappropriate threads and the boards left free to ANY coin collecting topic.

My conjecture, since the thread was allowed to stay up as long as it did, was that there were legal things being talked about "behind closed doors" as Jadecoin mentioned in the thread.
I hadn't read/seen anything new in the thread the last few days, but, since it stayed up as long as it did, I would guess that the dismissal was more of what was happening between jadecoin/jadecoin's attorneys and PCGS/PCGS' attorneys.

Marty, if you get the chance to find that out, since Jadecoin didn't appear to elaborate in the message portion you posted, it would be cool to know.

The sad part is that people like doops, little to no value other than threatening people, posting personal STALKER type info, stay on and yet Jadecoin who was helpful and friendly get booted.

    That is injustice image

Most people here don't think it's baseless- it was a legitimate complaint... and for the record, I found that Jadecoin was one of the most helpful members I've contacted through PM... also a pleasure to talk to in person... it's not about time that they are kicked off, it's about time that they be brought back.

However, it was a fairly serious issue that should not have been posted on these boards until after the issue had been resolved with PCGS. This is a PCGS site. I think it takes some ba!!s to bring it up here and not the smartest thinking in the world. It should have been handled in private.
Unfortunately I think Jade has shot themselves in the foot and can now expect to fight it out with PCGS.

BTW, Jade posting his problem in the Forum served a purpose beneficial to PCGS. Namely, those that disagreed with his demands for substantial compensation had a chance to try to convince him that he was off base.

For the record, I still think that Jade was entitled to something between zero and peanuts. I'm also disgusted that he was booted, but of course I might not have all the facts.

Sad that people are allowed to post lies like that in these great forums. This coin that person talks about is supposed to be a pop 1. The PCGS pop report shows only 1 graded so clearly the coin was a true MS66 and it still is. Bravo PCGS!

PCGS need to boot more members that make baseless complaints about them!
