I wonder how much he paid the NRCC. Maybe if I donated enough, I can get the same letter.

How much do I have to over price my notes on ebay before I get awarded and get to meet other Greeks?

Excuse me Atarian!!! He is not Greek, he is a Turk. Calling him Greek is an insult to my heritage

Actually, it looks like the event on June 8 is a moderately big deal - donor or not!

Wow..........let's not beat on poor Atarian for his misleading words. I am guessing by his last name "Philis" that he is also Greek and saying that he would meet other Greeks as Ahmet is going to meet other Turks at this function. I didn't realize we had so many Greeks on this board but it is good to see (myself included).

Is it just me or does her rambling on about the great Turkish-American people and the great role they have played in American society sound familiar............if I was Francis Ford Coppola I would sue for plagarizing Part II where she obviously substituted Turkish-American for Italian-American!!!

I will have to be the second to give him a big congratulations! Even if his stuff is way overpriced, this kind of thing doesn't just happen to everyone. Some of you guys really gotta give this guy a little break here and there, even if it is just a little one.

Original Post :

Let me go back and see if I can clear this up a little. My original comments meant I should go list things for millions of dollars on ebay then maybe I could get to go to Washington DC. Then I can meet other greeks. ( not that Ahmet is greek or classify anyone as such). Since we always see Ahmet list notes for millions and millions of dollars.

My little joking comment apparently moved people the wrong way. Once again in no way was I trying to say he was Greek. just joking about the high prices he puts on ebay and if i did so that maybe i can get recognized and then go to meet more greeks .

Rough Crowd.

Definitely quite an honor!

To appreciate the magnitude of his collection, please see the following quote:

"Among the items of American paper money exhibited at the Arcade Currency Palace, which is assiduously followed by numismatists, the piece that attracted the most attention on the opening night was a USD 1,000 paper bill issued in 1928 and valued at USD 50 million.

The total value of the money in Sandikci's collection is estimated to be around USD 500 million."

This is from the following article that can be found here (on the front page of the Turk of America):

Atarian, by no means was I insulted, nor think you were instulting anyone. So I was just kidding around myself when I made my comment, no worries here. I will say to my newly found Greek friends on the board here, Yassou! As far as Ahmet, I do not know the man and he could be the nicest/greatest person in the world so I wish him the best. When you do not know someone personally, it is natural to judge him or her by what you see and read about from them. After seeing million dollar price tags on some of his notes, I checked out his website out of curiousity. I would never promote myself in the manner that he does, and well that kind of rubs me the wrong way. But that is my opinion.

Personally, I like Ahmet.

You can say all you want about his listings but, he owns the notes and can list them any way he wants, imo!

I called Ahmet one time to talk about a few topics. It was very clear from the beginning that I would not be buying any notes. Ahmet spent almost an hour on the phone with me answering every question I had and offering advice, and his opinion on the subject we were talking about. He invited me to stop by next time I am in his neck of the woods, and I will, if for nothing else but to return the hospitality given to me. He never once made me feel like I was wasting his time. He also made sure at the end of the conversation that I had all of the information I needed.

Personally, I like Ahmet and wish him nothing but the best of luck. He was very kind to me and I appreciatte it.

[... to get this thread back on track, gentlemen!]

Congrats to Ahmet!

Zip - Did you not also receive an invitation? I would expect that you are also a substantial donor to the National Republican Congressional Committee, are you not?

No? Hmmm. Perhaps Mr. Sandikci can ask Mr. Gingrich to autograph a $100 note for you as a souvenir then.
