My quest for the top 250 sportscards in the hobby

Hi all,

I finally hit a milestone. I am proud to say, I have reached 90% finished in the top 250 sportscards in the hobby registry set! If someone more technically inclined than I am, could please post a link to my set I would appreciate it. I have built some great sets, but this is the Granddaddy of them all. I know I probably will never complete this set, but it is very cool to have completed 90% of this set. I may try to go as far as 95%.

By the way, I just purchased a 1952 Topps Eddie Mathews in raw form the other day. It is at PSA, and I should get the results today or tomorrow. If it gets an official grade that will be added immediately.

Thanks for the support from a few of you over the years.

Congrats on the Jeter and DiMaggio pickups. I can't imagine A-Rod will be as desireable down the road, and I'm surprised the Tiger Woods SI for Kids card isn't in there

Unfortunately, I am not technically inclined, so I cannot show scans. I am going to get my 14 year old son to handle this for me hopefully this summer.

Brian ... not even worth looking at if you don't have:

T206 WHITE BORDER SHERRY MAGIE (MAGEE)
T206 WHITE BORDER EDDIE PLANK and
    T206 WHITE BORDER HONUS WAGNER

    HAHAHA.

Man, what an AMAZING collection of cards you have put together. That's a hell of a lot of Passats!!!!!!!! Congratulations on a fine accomplishment. Enjoy them!

    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

    Doug,

I will eventually get the Magie card, but probably not the other two cards. I think I will purchase in the future the cards that are $10K or less. I really should have purchased the 1952 Mantle a few years ago when you could get the PSA 2 for about $6-7K.

The Havlicek 68 Topps Test is one of the toughest cards left for you. Those NEVER come up for sale. At least you can pick up a Wagner if funds are no issue.

Yes, the 68 Havlicek and 48 Leaf Graziano are extremely rare. About one year into building this set, I saw the 68 Test set (which includes Havlicek), came up for sale. I did not know anything about this card at the time. The set went for like $25K. So I passed on it. If I knew then, what I know now, I would have tried to purchase that set.

I sincerely congratulate you, bro. That's a powerful group of cards you have. Dwell on what you have; you've done a terrific job. Any others you are able to land are just icing on a mountainous cake!

If you feel like sharing, what are your personal favorite five, and why so?

This way, you may answer without seeking tech support, which I must also do---all the time! Take care. ---Indiana Jones (Brian Powell)
