My Tom Terrific Collection (1977 Cello Pack additition)

While I am an avid Cincinnati Reds Collector, I am a fan of Tom Seaver in any uniform. These 2 cards arrived in my mail today, so I wanted to share, as I know there are several other Seaver fans here:

Super cards Tom Terrific was the man, the centering on each of the cards is really nice.

    Nice examples on both counts!
  • Love those cards. I know vintage OPC is near and dear to your heart.

But I confess, I clicked hoping to see Tom Brady cards image

Premium card for the grade, John! Love that 72 OPC!

Dan, he said Tom Terrific, not Tom Where Have All My Wideouts Gone?

Thanks guys!! My first memories of Seaver were in days with the Reds, but I like all of his cards. I am trying to acquire each if his Topps and OPC cards in almost perfectly centered form. The OPC cards will be much tougher.

This is the first Seaver card I ever saw, and still my favorite!

Outstanding collection of Seaver. Very impressive.
  • Nice! Do you have a Seaver registry set? If so please post a link, I'd love to study your collection some more.

I have not updated this thread in a long time. I wanted to post 3 new specimens that I picked up over the last 3-4 months. The 1975 and 1976 Topps versions are upgrades. The 1974 OPC presents mint in every way except for front centering, although that aspect could fall into a straight PSA category:

Great cards! Seaver's 74 Topps and 76 Record Breaker are two of my favorite cards of that era, just love them.

  • That's a great looking 1975 Topps card. I don't collect baseball, but, if I did, it would be those.

  • Very cool. And I knew Mike would love this! Hi Mike image

Also enjoyed seeing Tim's anti-Pats post from October. Belichick is a CU member, so he took that post, hung it in the locker room, and that was their main motivation on their drive to another championship. Thanks Tim!

LOVE the original PSA flip on the '75! And that '74 is a stunner. I guess maybe technically OC according to PSA but I sure don't see it. Gorgeous cards! Congrats.

I'm diggin' the old flip on the '75- fits in with the general appearance of the card, just cool.

And, I hear this Seaver guy was a decent pitcher- good choice for collecting

Awesome collection and thread John! Seaver is a terrific choice to build a collection around. He and Carlton are two of the most underrated pitchers of all time, IMO.

I am stoked about this card. I purchased this card raw from Tom Salem and subbed it to PSA. While the L/R centering is not great, as a Seaver collector, I am happy to have this card, and even more happy to have self-subbed it. I need to rescan, as the it appears there was a hair on the scanner. lol

I have to stop reading these threads that involve OPC. I'm having a hard enough time getting Topps cards I want and now I am being drawn into the OPC cards. That is a great looking 68 Seaver. A pretty good eye to pick an 8 up raw. Congrats!
