I'm not impressed with the inserts, but I'll still do a Dodgers set. The '66 is my birth year set, so maybe I'll try to put together a TTM parallel.

Looks like the guys at Topps are satisfied with Heritage and are just rolling forward 2014, into the 1966 design.

Don't see any new crazy gimmicks. Just the saturated ones from last year.

Still waiting for 2016, when they do 67 design and will probably include some sort of tribute to Yaz's triple crown.

I'm putting in a case order this week.

That's pretty much all I can afford this year.

May check out the Archives set in June if it's affordable. But that's about it.

Oh please. Tease me with a mariano auto #25 like sabathia's only auto in 2013 which happened to be a very limited dual auto. The quad patch looks cool, but I suppose it will also be window shopping. I'm stil trying to run down some of the dual relics from 2008 and 2009. Anyway, if topps holds true to form, bobby richardson should have his last card reprint auto this year. Loved the 2014/1965 design but topps blew it in a number of areas in both unattainable inserts and poor production quality. Hoping for a better year in 2015 heritage, and I'm in for a case too.

Cardboard Connection just put up a check list. They list two Action Image variation sets, each slightly different; the first is hobby only. I hope some players don't have two AI variations. The number of inserts is getting crazy. I liked the first few years a lot better, without all the "bells and whistles".
I printed out the check list. It's TWENTY TWO pages, plus two pages of comments.

Yeah, that's ridiculous. Heritage was a LOT of fun in the mid 2000s. There was an extremely active trading community here, lots of camaraderie, lots of support and happiness for each other. Master sets, complete with inserts and short printed variations, were easily attainable, especially with people willing to trade. Topps killed all of that. Horrible ROI on cases, waaaaaay too many SSPs and other gimmicky inserts, mediocre autographs (with way too many of them being redemptions that all too often are never fulfilled). That's just off the top of my head. I haven't purchased a case since 2008, and that was only the 2nd year of SSPs. It's gone way downhill since then. Too bad, too. 1966 is my birth year - I'd love to go hog wild this year, but will satisfy myself with a team set from eBay and maybe chasing down whatever SSPs appear in it - probably Puig and Kershaw if I had to guess.

A Legend Begins and A Legend Retires sub sets exclusive to Target and Wal-Mart sound interesting. Although I have no desire to tracking down packs at either retailer just to chase them.

IS Topps still running with the "hot Box" craze of a few years back and creating a colored Chrome series, on top of the normal Chrome? I think that lost its shine, but I wasn't sure if they were back for 2015. It's hard set to complete when you get no more that 24 per case.

Checklist is only showing Black /66 and gold /5 that I can see. I was not a fan of the purples either.

welp, the news today in heritage land is not good. Autograph odds have doubled from last year and will be at around 1:258 packs. Chromes, at least in hobby boxes are 1:23...yes you read
that right, prepare to pull just one chrome in a box. Early rumor is that chromes will be easier to pull in retail. Another rumor is that retail boxes will be plentiful this year and that hobby boxes
will be increased in production also.

Wonder what will replace the chrome cards per box? With all the other inserts, did Chrome just get squeezed out, or will it be more base cards and less hits?
  • Options
    Mick65Mick65 Posts: 722 ✭✭✭

My initial guess would be the two other Chrome spots will be image variations or "blue backs" etc. Perhaps making those "less rare".

    WaltWalt Posts: 1,275 ✭✭✭
I think what topps has done is made more base card product and filled extra packs with that. I see nothing from the odds that were posted to suggest anything but topps watering it
down. I hope I am wrong come pack time, but 1 chrome a box is just cheap.
