My guess is it probably will be hard pressed to top $8K. A far cry from the $11K this exact card allegedly sold for last October.

The seller Goomba Joe is the fiercest buyer I have ever seen.

That guy has deep pockets and if he wants the card he is winning.

    SMR at $6,250

PSA has some catching up to do. These can't trade all the time like a modern card at this price so $7,600 is the current sale. I bet these surface in PSA 9 very rarely with a population of 26.

    Awesome card!!!

I believe it was a consignment. I offered to buy early, but he said the consignor wanted $9.5K. Too much for that card. Still, I had a bid on the card, but wasn't willing to chase it.

    Thunderdan,

This EBAY ID under Goomba Joe is the most agressive buyer I have ever witnessed.

Is this a major dealer out of Boston?

He has bought some really awesome cards in the past 9 months. The only card I did not lose was a 1982 Wrestling All Stars PSA 9 Ricky Steamboat for $135. On major cards you can not beat this buyer as the pockets are so deep!

I am sure you are so right. I know his name from the Registry and know he owns a huge big money card collection.

On more modern cards like Jordan inserts and other current issues this buyer gobbles them up. He ventured for a time into the Wrestling All Stars market but has not been spotted for some time.

Has loaded up on cards if you look the transactions.

Consignor took a bath on the card. He paid $11,100 in October of last year. Six month later it brings him back $7,600. Losing $3,500 must be small potatoes for some people. I wonder what changed in the 6 month time period?

    1. the ironed out crease came back.
    2. card was replaced with a trimmed Wilt.
    3. the owner had a bad day at the boat /casino and needed some cash.
    4. Wilt just tested positive for HGH and the story hasn't broken yet!
    5. the owner just bought a PSA 10 for 9,000.
    6. he found out how much cardboard is by the pound.
    7. heard the post office was raising their rates.
    8. the holder had a chip in it and didn't want to pay the reholder fee.
    9. 12-21-12 is one day closer now.
    10. just needed some gas money.

I am hoping to get this in an authentic holder.

This is such a cool card that I just wanted to own one and I would rather an altered one that is sharp.

I am going to try. Hopefully PSA will label it AUTH or AUTH Trimmed. I don't care either way. I just would love to be able to see it in a slab and hold the card.

I am anxious to get this card. I think it is a cool piece of basketball history.

In reality I had not spent anytime researching what the card should have gone for and it was more of a judgement call in the last 30 minutes. A friend helped with some price advice and I took it and won.

Looking at some other examples tonight I think this is a perfect for me. I wanted to own a copy that I am excited to look at. I can deal with the chop job.

Fantastic looking card. If you can get it into any PSA holder I can't see how you could ever lose money on it... but I would keep it. Nice job.

Is the trim on the bottom edge? Looks like it bows from edges to center.
Edited to add thats a sweet card DPeck!

If I had to bet I would think both the top and the bottom have been trimmed.

It looks cool which is what I am worried about.

The PSA 10 of this card would go for stupid money and has to be one of the top investment cards to own in all trading cards.

I have to think something was done to the card because of the way it was listed but I was surprised to see it match up like it does.

The top edge as it moves to the right seems a little odd but no telling. This is the type of card that could be sitting in a card shop raw listed for a high price.

The 1961 Fleer basketball cards differ in size. I graded out a beautiful set and 12/66 came back minimum sized required. That Wilt looks fine to me.

Beautiful card. There were some PSA A (trimmed) T206s in a recent auction and man was I tempted to enter the pre-war era. Your card has great color and registration. Great, great, pickup.

I collect this set and bought my first complete set right out of packs with the gum powder
still on many of the card's surfaces back in 1988 at a card show. With that said, both the Wilt and Oscar above
have really nice colors, corners, and eye appeal, but both appear too short to make it into holders with a number grade.

Yes, '61 Fleers do vary in size but my experience tells me both are too short to be assigned a number grade.
Both are definitely authentic and nice cards to own however.

I remember seeing a PSA 8 or 9 Oscar a few years back that was way too short too, but
it somehow made it into a holder despite this, even though it was under their minimum size criteria.
So I guess you never know what may happen if you send your cards in for grading.

    Do they both looked trimmed?

The top edge of the Wilt is a lot more smooth then the rest of the card. I have a little loop with a light and it was easy to see the little fibers hanging off the card on all of the edges but the top.

I noticed that many of these cards have a little white strip on the back that extends past the blue area and perhaps someone cut it off.

The only edge that looks odd to me is the top and that would coincide with the white strip issue.

Great looking cards for a raw collection. If you decide to submit, please post the results. Hope they come back clean.
