1965 Topps Cello Pack - RIPPAGE!!!!

OK ... I have to be honest, I didn't want to RIP this ... BUT ....

I had a raw pack from the 60s ('61 Fleer wax) this 65 Topps cello a GAI pack (Old Flip ... 67 Baseball wax) and a raw 72 Jumbo Cello that I was going to send in to PSA.

The '65 cello had a price sticker on it (it was on sale ... half price ... a nickle ... LOL) so I knew that the highest it would grade would be a "7". So I tried, as I have done before, to remove the sticker. ANYWAY, after soaking the sticker well it started to peel off a little at a time. Then it peeled off very easily ... except it brought the friggin cello with it! SOOOO, now I have a hole in the cello and the grade will be very low. That being the case, I will now RIP the pack.

Man ... I would have LOVED for that Ellie to have been centered. What a nice looking card otherwise!
Not sure why the pink lines look crooked ... they are straight as can be!

I've always liked that Blair/Johnson RC, especially with the PanAm sign on the outfield wall. I picked up a PSA 8 (o/c) for $5 at a show a few years back. I was told by a friend I overpaid. He's a bit of a douche. But I digress.

This thread sure caught my attention.

The Blair/Johnson if in 8 or 9 is worth sending in.

That Gagliano 2 player rookie has about 75 nines already out there.

    IIRC.

The centering is as I expected because IMO (and this is only my opinion) people that slab these packs

at times already know that the box the packs came from many of the cards were OC and the value

lay-lies in the pack not the cards.

Thanks for sharing that Billy Hoeft at one time (maybe still) was a decent card in 8.

    Steve
    Good for you.

Sorry it couldn't have been better, but that "adrenaline rush thrill" of the anticipation and busting of the pack must have made it worth something - Thanks for the thread!
